What started as a 200-bed capacity hospital is now an over 350-bed capacity medical center. The medical center meets the health care needs of over around 425,000 outpatient visits annually.

Excellence
AUBMC is the only medical institution in the Middle East to have earned the five international accreditations of the Joint Commission International(JCI), Magnet, College of American Pathologists (CAP), the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education – International (ACGME-I) and JACIE attesting to its superior standards in patient-centered care, nursing, pathology/laboratory services and graduate medical education. Although we take pride in these international accreditations, we continue to focus on providing higher standards of care, quality and safety, partnered with service excellence.

The Faculty of Medicine has graduated over 4,000 medical students and physicians; the Rafic Hariri School of Nursing provides excellent education for the nursing staff, and the Medical Center meets the healthcare needs of over 360,000 patient visits annually.

AUBMC is committed to improving the delivery of healthcare in Lebanon and the region. As such, it is home to numerous centers of excellence and specialized clinical services that provide patients with the highest standards of evidence-based treatments using a multidisciplinary approach to care. AUBMC is currently home to five state-of-the-art centers of excellence: The Abu-Haidar Neuroscience Institute; the Children's Cancer Center of Lebanon, which is dedicated to the treatment of pediatric cancer; the Naef K. Basile Cancer Institute, which is dedicated to the treatment of adult cancer; the first Multiple Sclerosis Center in the region, and the Mufid Farra Heart and Vascular Institute.
