Insiya Dsouza is a CDA Licensed Counselling Psychologist  in Openminds Psychiatry Counselling and Neuroscience Center,

Insiya’s primary approach to therapy is trauma-informed, intersectional feminist, existential and self-compassion based. Taking a systemic lens, she looks at how various social systems intersect with one another and impact a person’s mental health. Her practice is rooted in the humanistic school of therapy, and she also draws her techqniues from cognitive behaviour therapy, narrative inquiry and mindfulness.

Insiya holds a Masters in Counselling Psychology from Montfort Institute of Advanced Studies, India (2021), and has also completed online certificate courses in Trauma Informed Therapy and Narrative Therapy. She has been working with clients since December 2019.

She understands the mental health challenges that come with living in a fast-paced, technology-driven, uncertain, post-pandemic world. Insiya’s training has been multicultural-sensitive and she is experienced in working with areas such as trauma, anxiety, depression, OCD, relationship distress, loneliness, low self-worth, grief, existential angst, and more.

Much like her existential predecessors, she too believes that the therapeutic relationship acts as vehicle for facilitating personal growth and expansion. In her work she takes a non-pathologizing and strengths based approach. This means that there is emphasis on the unique abilities through which people survive hardships. Insiya finds her purpose in using her knowledge and personhood to connect to her clients in a meaningful and compassionate way.
