Ms. Shahad Abduljalil is an Aging Professional. She is an Occupational Therapist and a Gerontologist. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy (OT) in 2015 from Kuwait University, which has an internationally accredited Program by the World Federation of Occupational Therapy (WFOT). She earned a Master’s degree (MSG) in 2019 from California State University Fullerton in California, worked directly with patients, families, and caregivers to apply interventions, identify behaviors, and therapeutic interactions. She worked in various Alzheimer’s institutions in the U.S including Alzheimer’s family center in California and different nursing homes such as sunrise senior living where she demonstrated memory assessments, engaged participants in therapeutic activities, managed behavioral issues of patients with dementia through therapeutic strategies, and planned therapeutic group activities for the residents. Ms. Abduljalil also did her internship at the UCI Medical Center in Orange County California where she was exposed to research in the field of Geriatrics and Gerontology. In 2019, she earned the “outstanding thesis award” from the Aging Studies Program at CSUF.

Ms. Abduljalil works with clients struggling with memory, cognitive decline, neurological disorders, and age-related difficulties. Shahad is very passionate about working with the elderly and their families and has dedicated her entire career to helping seniors maintain their daily life skills.

Ms. Shahad also is an Alzheimer’s advocate. She attended the Advocacy Forum in Washington D.C. to educate and raise awareness about Alzheimer’s disease and its impact on older adults in the states. She believes that the aging community, elderly living with Alzheimer’s, and their caregivers in Kuwait require more attention and thus need more services. She aims to improve the quality of life of people living with dementia and those with disabilities.

She speaks fluent English and Arabic.
